Job Description
The Recruitment and Retention Specialist is an integral member of our Goodwill Training and Education
Center. Their primary responsibility is to collaborate with the Recruitment Manager and leadership to recruit
students and ensure successful completion of GTEC programming.
The Recruitment and Retention Specialistwill be responsible for supporting enrollment for both The Academy and The Excel Center. In addition to the
student LOA, the Recruitment and Retention Specialist is responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of business relationships that support GTEC programs and their students.
The Recruitment and Retention Specialist is expected to contribute and uphold a positive work environment that follows Goodwill's Amazing Customer Experience (ACE) culture, Values, and Mission in everything you do and every interaction you have with co-workers, clients, customers and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, and is responsible for
implementation of the plan and for obtaining target enrollment goals for The Academy and The Excel Center.
2. Monitors and maintains truancy tracking system of student progress and noticeable trends.
3. Uses retention and enrollment data to address term by term trends and develops a plan of action to
address retention and enrollment goals.
4. Visits neighboring school districts and other community agencies frequently to speak to prospective
students, guidance counselors, or to participate in workshops/retreats. Frequently attends community
events for the purpose of recruiting new students and developing new partnerships.
5. Works closely with teachers, life coaches, and school leadership regarding students who have not yet
completed the enrollment process or who are absent frequently upon enrollment.
6. Serves as a liaison between the student, home, school, counseling facilities and community resources
such as social services, court services, and family service agencies.
7. Creates and distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs and is
responsible for adapting resources based on prospective student feedback and enrollment data.
8. Compiles monthly reports and maintains accurate case records.
9. Performs casework services with students to help identify and resolve barriers to student entry into the
school.
10.Manages reports and responses to inquiries from all students interested in enrolling or re-enrolling into
The Academy or The Excel Center.
11.Conferences with and provide information, support, and advisement to students to ensure program
success/completion.
12.Collaborates with instructors and other school personnel to monitor student progress and to identify
pathways for success.
13.Manages and monitor student information to ensure academic progress.
14.Consistently engages alumni via social platforms, email, calls, texts, and outcome data.
15.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Additional Information
1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience to include a working knowledge of both The Academy and
The Excel Center.
2. Must possess ability to collect, interpret, and synthesize information about a student's social history,
community environment, family dynamics, economic differences, and significant crises that influence academic
and behavioral functioning.
3. Must have demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member and devise
an appropriate service plan for referred students and their families.
4. Must possess the ability to synthesize and interpret diagnostic and assessment data.
5. Must possess excellent communication and time management skills.
6. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community
agencies, students, families, team members, and others.
7. Requires local travel/transporting individuals; valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and good
driving record.
8. Ability to accept and/or drive change positively; demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills
and initiative
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience working with high school aged students in a nontraditional setting and/or an adult education
setting strongly preferred.
