About Us:

Xtremis is a technology leader developing AI-powered spectrum situational awareness and control systems designed to optimize the performance of wireless networks in some of the most demanding electromagnetic spectrum environments. We are establishing a state-of-the-art test facility at Devil's Den Proving Grounds near Fayetteville, AR, that will serve as our center of excellence for hardware-in-the-loop testing, system integration, and AI/ML model development.


Position Overview:

We're seeking an ambitious, hands-on Senior System Architect to lead the development of our automated test infrastructure for RF equipment, edge devices, networking backbone, and cloud infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to architect and implement advanced testing capabilities while growing into a leadership position as our facility expands. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between hardware and software teams, establishing robust DevOps/EmbedOps practices for embedded systems testing and validation.

This position requires obtaining and maintaining a security clearance within 6 months of employment; must be a US citizen and meet eligibility requirements. Xtremis will initiate the clearance process for the selected candidate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing facility
  • Establish automated testing frameworks and continuous integration pipelines for embedded systems
  • Develop and maintain test automation infrastructure using Python, bash, Tcl, and other scripting languages
  • Conduct controlled experiments and integrate complex software, network, and hardware components, including secure communication protocols, to evaluate system interoperability and resilience.
  • Document and present test results, performance metrics, and system behavior through comprehensive reports and briefings to technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Lead the integration of DevOps practices into hardware development workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement test requirements
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in test methodologies and best practices
  • Manage relationships with contractors and vendors during facility buildout
  • Document test procedures, results, and system configurations
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing efficiency and coverage

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • BS+7 or MS+5 years experience in systems integration and test automation
  • Strong Linux skills
  • Strong programming skills in one or more of the following languages: Python, bash, Tcl, C/C++, VHDL, Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Exposure to cloud services
  • Experience with continuous integration tools and practices
  • Knowledge of embedded systems development and testing
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining test infrastructure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with FPGA-based and MCU-based development and testing
  • Familiarity with signal processing concepts
  • Background in automated data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of network protocols and distributed systems
  • Prior experience in test facility development or management
