Position Summary

The role of Information Technology Operations Engineer reports to the Information Technology Infrastructure Manager. This is a senior-level position responsible for designing, implementing, and managing automation solutions that optimize the healthcare system’s IT operations. This position focuses on streamlining infrastructure management, enhancing system reliability, and driving operational efficiency through automation and orchestration. This position leads automation initiatives, evaluates emerging technologies, and ensures secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure operations.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automation workflows for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching, and monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures for automated operations and system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and infrastructure issues, serving as the escalation point for critical incidents.
  • Monitor system performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks through automation.
  • Lead automation-related projects, including planning, execution, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Evaluate and recommend new automation tools and platforms to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Mentor junior engineers and systems administrators in automation best practices and tools.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and incident response, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent work experience and relevant certifications.
  • Licensure/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration with in-depth knowledge of network protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).

Minimum of 5 years with advanced knowledge of and experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems, VMWare, server hardware and storage area networks, supporting servers, applications, and workstations in a large and complex environment.

Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities. 1-2 years of Infrastructure as code or AIOPs.

Work Environment: This position spends the majority of time sitting (up to 80% of work time) with frequent walking of short distances (up to 20% of work time). This position performs repetitive type motions (up to 80% of work time). This position functions within a clerical/computer sciences office environment.
