Position Summary
The role of the Trauma Registrar reports to Trauma Program Manager. This position is responsible for abstracting patient data as it relates to trauma care and entering that data into a national trauma database.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Collect review, analyze, and enter patient data in the Arkansas Trauma Registry on all trauma patients who meet inclusion criteria
- Ensure trauma cases are coded correctly and in accordance with AAAM guidelines and AIS guidelines
- Utilize medical knowledge to adjust the Injury Severity Score reported in the Registry, as applicable
- Oversee maintenance of computer software utilized for the trauma registry
- Utilize previous knowledge of trauma care as it relates to best practices following the American College of Surgeons guidelines, while serving as the primary level of review in trauma audits
- Perform monthly validations on trauma registry data entered by fellow team members to ensure accuracy
Qualifications
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed to work in the state of Arkansas.
- Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas RN license, required.
- Experience: Three years of nursing experience in an acute-care setting is required. Previous coding experience using ICD-10 and CPT codes, preferred.
Work Environment: This position will spend 90% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 10% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs.
