Position Summary

The role of Fitness Specialist reports to the Center for Exercise Manager. This position is responsible for providing instructions, exercise programs, and support that will assist participants.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Evaluate participants abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet special requirements
  • Demonstrate proper technique for various exercises and routines to minimize injuries and improve fitness
  • Ensure the safety of clients during training sessions
  • Properly inspect, maintain, and clean fitness equipment, exercise floor, and classrooms
  • Administer emergency first aid and refers injured persons to physicians, as needed

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in related field, required. Minimum 5 years experience and current enrollment in a program will be considered in lieu of.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Group Exercise Certification or Personal Trainer certification from an accredited program, required. Automated External Defibrillator certification, required. CPR required within 90 days.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a exercise center setting, preferred.

Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time walking and/or standing while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
