Position Summary

The role of the Clinic Procedure Registered Nurse reports to the Electrophysiology Clinic Manager in partnership with the Clinic Physicians. The primary function of this position is to perform treadmill stress tests, tilt table tests, and place monitors on patients as needed. This position is responsible for providing care from the time of patient arrival until patient recovery is established. This position will ensure appointments are scheduled appropriately and follow up appointments are made with a provider and coordinate care when necessary.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage procedure schedule effectively and efficiently, with oversight by the provider.
  • Provide documentation for each patient, including patient vital signs, update EMR, update medication list, document symptoms.
  • Obtain prior authorizations, or ABNs for procedures. as necessary.
  • Monitor patient throughout the testing performed.
  • Document and alert providers of any immediate instances of patient concern during testing.
  • Provide direction, support, and counseling regarding medical therapies and medications as directed by the provider related to post testing.
  • Document or import tests and monitoring results into EMR and prepare the procedure note; providing test documentation for the provider to read and interpret.
  • Enroll monitors mailed to patients.
  • Educate patients while effectively placing monitors on patients in the clinic.
  • Triage calls per established provider protocols for all patients, partnering directly with the EP providers or Cardiology providers, and document details in electronic medical record.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with staff, providers, and clinic leaders regarding operational issues, patient care concerns, and policy and procedure issues and staffing on an ongoing basis.
  • Serve as patient liaison and advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Licensure and Certifications: Registered Nurse license, CPR, ACLS and Dysrhythmia required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a cardiac setting, preferred.

Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
