Position Summary

The President of the Washington Regional Medical Foundation reports to the President & Chief Executive Officer of Washington Regional and is a member of the Executive Council. This position is responsible for integrating the organization’s fundraising and philanthropic initiatives into the fabric of the institution’s personality and strategic plan. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of fundraising strategies, building relationships with donors, and ensuring the effective management of the foundation’s assets and grants while creating a culture of giving. This position plays a key role in shaping the health system’s philanthropic priorities and ensure that the organization’s charitable giving aligns with its strategic goals.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropic and fundraising strategy that aligns with the health system's mission and goals, including measurable objectives to secure annual, major, capital, and endowment support.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including identify and engage potential donors, develop fundraising campaigns, and manage the donor relations process.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key donors, board members, and other stakeholders who can support philanthropic initiatives.
  • Work closely with executive leadership and board to identify and define health system philanthropic responsibilities.
  • Represent the health system and its philanthropic initiatives in the community and advocate for the importance of philanthropy in supporting the healthcare system and its impact on the community, highlighting the impact of donor contributions with both internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the organization's mission and the impact of its philanthropic activities.
  • Oversee the grant process, including review grant applications, make recommendations to the board, and manage the disbursement of funds.
  • Ensure the sound financial management and governance of the foundation, including budgeting, investing, reporting, and effective management of contracts.
  • Oversees the data collection and analysis process within the philanthropy team and tracks the impact of philanthropic activities and prepares reports for donors, stakeholders, including the WR Medical Foundation board.
  • Recruit, develop, lead and manage the philanthropic and fundraising team, ensuring effective collaboration, implementation of programs and activities, and individual performance metrics are met and support the overall strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree within a related field, with a master’s or related advanced degree.
  • Seasoned fund raising professional with a minimum of seven (7) years of directly related healthcare leadership experience including data collection and analysis, leading teams, and personnel to success around a common goal, experience, and success in developing and implementing systematic changes and experience in implementing policy and procedures that perpetuate a customer centric environment.
  • Understand and appropriately applies procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise on technical matters and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Must have approximately ten years fundraising and development experience in large complex organizations, particularly within a healthcare system or organization.
  • Proven expertise in scaling and optimizing fundraising teams to meet growing fundraising goals.
  • Possession of a valid Arkansas driver's license is a requirement for this job.

  • Proven track record of leading and motivating diverse teams, fostering collaboration and alignment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data analytics to inform decision-making and measure performance.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to subordinate personnel and effectively communicate with a wide variety of Hospital personnel, community members, board members, and outside entities.
  • Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to develop and implement new systems, techniques and procedures; determine needs for capital equipment, personnel, expense and revenue budgets; and prepare special and recurring reports or analyses.

This position primarily functions in an office setting. Majority of time is spent sitting (up to 60% of work time) with frequent standing and walking of short distances required (up to 40% of work time.) This position is active within the community and may travel for various events, conferences, meetings.
