Position Summary

The position of the EKG Tech reports to the EKG Supervisor in partnership with the Director of Therapy Services. This position, is responsible for diagnostic EKG testing, delivering equipment and assembling traction as ordered. This position is accountable for the ordering and billing of special equipment and maintaining departmental records.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic EKG testing, cleaning equipment, and assembling traction as ordered.
  • Order and bill for special medical equipment and maintain department and patient records.
  • Obtain and maintain familiarity and knowledge of the EKG tech function and machines and complete basic dysrhythmia courses, as assigned.
  • Perform and accurately read and interpret written or verbal orders associated with EKG function. Working alongside doctors and nurses.
  • Must maintain up to date knowledge of specialty beds, traction, SCD pumps, and collect and appropriate distribute IV pumps and oxygen tanks to patient floors, as assigned.
  • Perform administrative duties in a standard office environment and effectively operate office equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensure and Certifications: CPR, required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.

Work Environment: This position has exposure to body fluids and communicable disease. Majority of time is spent standing, with frequent walking of short distances (up to 80% of work time). Frequent pushing of up to 95 lbs. (up to 30% of work time) and carrying/lifting of up to 20 lbs. (up to 10% of work time) is required. A variety of populations is served including neonate (up to 5% of work time), pediatrics (10%), adolescents (5%), adults (up to 60%) and geriatrics (up to 20%).
