Position Summary
The role of the ED Tech II reports to the Registered Nurse in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. This position is responsible for direct patient care activities that assist the nursing staff with obtaining favorable patient outcomes.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff with various patient care needs, as appropriate
- Assist with collecting patient specimens through appropriate collection requirements
- Retrieve and transport blood products
- Chaperone patient during exams, as needed
- Answer call lights and telephones and assist as appropriate
- Transport and ambulate patients
- Assist with application of patient monitoring technology, testing devices, and restraints
- Obtain patient vitals and enter into electronic medical records, as appropriate
- Observe patients and communicate needs to a member of the patient care team
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Licensure and Certifications: CPR, required.
- Experience: Previous experience in an acute care setting or emergency room, preferred. EMT, ACNA, or phlebotomy experience, preferred.
Work Environment: This position will spend 90% of the time walking and/or standing while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 10% of the time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position will be exposed to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and radiation. This position serves a cultural and linguistically diverse patient population.
