Position Summary

The role of the Licensed Practical Nurse reports to the Registered Nurse, Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Director. This position is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the total nursing care of assigned patients including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation. This position is responsible for delegating to and supervising the job classes of nurse assistants and unit secretaries. This position assists in achieving patient quality of care, national patient safety, regulatory agency, and budgetary goals.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Perform a comprehensive and accurate patient assessment using evidence-based assessment tools
  • Provides nursing care according to plan and undertakes clinical practice skills in a competent and safe manner
  • Identifies changes in patient condition and reports to appropriate providers in a timely manner
  • Initiates and monitors care that patients receive
  • Maintains patients’ medical records through complete and accurate documentation
  • Evaluates patient needs and communicates to care team as appropriate
  • Document patient status in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

  • Education: Must be a graduate of an LPN nursing program
  • Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas Licensed Practical Nurse license & CPR, required.
  • Experience: This position is available to both new graduate nurses and experienced nurses.

Work Environment: This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable disease. This position spends the majority of time standing and/or walking of short distances, with frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 100lbs as well as occasional carrying of up to 25 lbs. This position will serve a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population.
