Position Summary
Washington Regional Medical System, Northwest Arkansas' only locally owned, locally governed, not-for-profit hospital and health system; is seeking a hospital-based Neurosurgery Physician Assistant to join our Washington Regional JB Hunt Transport Services Neuroscience Institute located in Northwest Arkansas. Our institute is comprised of 6 Neurosurgeons, 2 General Neurologists, 2 Neurohospitalists, 1 Vascular Neurologist, 2 Neurointerventional Radiologists, 1 Interventional Pain Management Physician, and 7 Advanced Practice Providers. Washington Regional maintains Advanced Spine Surgery Certification by The Joint Commission and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Inpatient and Outpatient responsibilities to include, assisting in OR, rounding on inpatients and providing care to clinic patients
- Call rotation with other PAs
- Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses
- Order and perform diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests
- Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
- Prescribe and dispense medications
- Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records
- Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care, and encourage and promote preventative health care and positive health behaviors
- Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics
- Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects
Qualifications
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Licensure and Certifications: Physician Assistant License and CPR, required. National certification, required
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a previous clinical role, required.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
