Position Summary
The role of the Specialty Billing Coordinator reports to the Clinic Manager. This position is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations for all injectables and procedures that are required by insurance requirements for each patient.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Partner with insurance companies to obtain knowledge on processes and requirements, as well as coding, medical staff and providers to document in patient record.
- Obtain prior authorizations for all injectables and procedures required by insurance.
- Collect and review patient payment agreements and follow-up as needed.
- Review billing statements and determine if claim meets billing requirements as set by payor contracts.
- Ensure that hospital billing and any other billing are completed.
- Discuss financial responsibilities with patients receiving injections and procedures and ensure proper and timely responses to all inquiries are provided.
- Verify and post payments collected from patients and insurance companies to the appropriate patient account.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Licensure and Certifications: N/A
- Experience: Previous experience with prior authorization process required. Must possess knowledge of federal, state, and managed care insurance billing regulations, contracts, and specific billing requirements.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 20% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50lbs
