Position Summary

The role of the HIS Analyst reports to the Health Information Services Manager. This position is responsible for supporting the revenue cycle by processing and analyzing discharged medical records and performing basic Release of Information (ROI) tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of documentation in patient chart by reviewing documentation for deficiencies and utilize for reporting purposes
  • Maintain analysis work queue within 1-3 days post-discharge to ensure records are complete for coding purposes
  • Issue deficiencies for missing information within the medical record
  • Work with necessary departments to obtain documentation needed for record completion
  • Remain knowledgeable regarding ROI in order to appropriately assist with release requests
  • Assist other departments and users on location of documents within EMR software
  • Appropriately utilize the transcription system for accessing documents, as needed
  • Effectively communicate with physician offices for retrieval and completion of needed documentation
  • Identify duplicate medical records and combine, as appropriate
  • Serve as support to coding teams and physician support coordinator for reviewing and updating deficiencies as needed
  • Perform other job duties as directed by Manager or Director.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensure and Certifications: Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance, required. RHIT or RHIA certification, required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-years previous experience in an HIS or healthcare support role, required.

Work Environment: This position will spend 50% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 50% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position will require transportation between facilities.
