Description

Position Summary

The role of the Medical Laboratory Technician reports to the Laboratory Supervisor in partnership with the Assistant Director and Director of Laboratory. This position is responsible for performing routine and special laboratory testing. This position will collaborate with internal and external clients to ensure testing is performed accurately and efficiently. This position will assist to ensure all local, state, and federal regulations and requirements are met.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen processing functions in lab departments
  • Perform CLIA waived and non-waived testing according to approved procedures and processes
  • Identify and document problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and immediately correct the problem or notify supervisor, director, or medical director
  • Perform analyzer maintenance, calibration and quality control procedures
  • Assist with delivery of specimen processing
  • Perform troubleshooting and corrective action documentation and related procedures
  • Perform proficiency testing as required for regulatory compliance
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Assist with phlebotomy, as needed
  • Assist with inventory management, as needed

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program. Completion of clinical internship from an accredited institution
  • Licensure and Certifications: ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification
  • Experience: 1-year medical laboratory experience, preferred.

Work Environment: This position will spend 60% time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs and 40$ of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position has exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids. Verbal and auditory acuity to both communicate/interpret and receive test information from analyzers or via telephone is also required.
