Position Summary
The Executive Director of Health Partners (the “Executive Director” or “ED”) reports directly to the Washington Regional Vice President of Managed Care
The Executive Director is responsible for all facets of managed care operations and strategic business development in assigned areas. This position is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating managed care operations and services. This position partners and collaborates with leadership to implement professional standards and policies, as well as innovative staffing, recruiting and retention strategies. This position is responsible for business development and financial analysis and oversight. Works in collaboration with directors and managers, other operations team members, medical directors, corporate leadership and hospital and community partners to evaluate, modify and develop business processes while enhancing local practices profitability and improving daily operations.
This is an in-person position that requires the job holder to be on-site at the workplace.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Consult, advise, and assist the Vice President and executives to provide leadership and direction in planning, directing, and coordinating both patient- and non-patient quality initiatives.
- Works closely with system and leadership to drive optimal operations, excellent patient satisfaction, budget management and strategic growth initiatives.
- Provides assistance and leadership in developing and implementing strategic plans for the organization.
- Supports the market outreach initiatives in the same manner.
- Leads all managed care contracting initiatives for the PHO.
- Conducts quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
- Evaluates business development models and effectively leads the credentialing processes for new and current providers and clinics.
- Monitors performance and collaborates with Chief Financial Officer to review and approve monthly financials.
- Participates in the preparation, review, and approval of annual budgets.
- Effectively coordinates with other WR departments and independent clinics to achieve specific goals.
- Develops and executes action plans for progress as needed.
- Evaluates provider and practice productivity and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with hospital administration, integrated physician clinic administration, and independent clinic administration.
- Serves as administrative point of contact for practices, practice administrators and providers.
- Complies with Compliance Program: collaborates with System General Counsel and Legal and Compliance Officer in conjunction with the Chief Quality Officer.
- Development of administrative team: Build team-centered culture and effective team performance.
Qualifications
- Education: master’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of directly related healthcare leadership experience including data collection and analysis, leading teams and personnel to success around a common goal, experience and success in developing and implementing systematic changes and experience in implementing policy and procedures that perpetuate a customer centric environment.
- Insurance and medical reimbursement knowledge is required including a thorough understanding of managed care.
- Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Professional Skills
- Approximately seven to ten years progressively more responsible related work experience which includes five to seven years supervisory and managerial experience, in order to effectively direct and manage activities within patient and customer experience and services.
- Advanced interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to subordinate personnel and effectively communicate with a wide variety of hospital personnel, physician clinic personnel, community residents and outside agencies personnel.
- Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to develop and implement new policies techniques and procedures, determines need for managed care contract management, capital equipment, personnel, expense and revenue budgets, and prepare special and recurring reports or analyses.
Distinguishing Features of the Executive Director Position: Under general supervision of the VP of Managed Care, the Executive Director is responsible for managed care operations at Health Partners PHO. The Executive Director administers and coordinates the operations of this function to ensure proper management and effective operation of the delivery of care in accordance with established accreditation, regulatory and professional standards, together with applicable Hospital and System policies and procedures. Responsibility involves effective strategic planning and operational coordination with multiple health system and system support functions.
