Operating Room Attendant

Position Summary
The OR attendant is primarily responsible for environmental sanitation within the Surgery Services area, patient transport, and duties related to maintaining inventory, transporting and storing medications, ordering and stocking supplies. Other duties include anesthesia aide, assisting the clinical staff within the OR by helping to position patients, and acting as a runner for supplies, specimens, blood, medications, etc. as needed. This position has daily exposure to body fluids and moderate exposure to radiation and communicable diseases. The majority of time is spent standing and/or walking short distances (at least 60% of work time), with frequent lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling of up to 100 lbs. (up to 40% of work time).

Licenses/Certifications Required
CPR (may be completed within 90 days of hire)

Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required
Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are required. Successful completion of high school studies or a GED, is required. A basic knowledge of asepsis and standard precautions is required and/or must be attained within 90 days of employment.
