\nPosition Summary
The role of the Surgical Scrub Technician reports to the Operating Room Clinical Coordinator. This position is responsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments.
Essential Position Responsibilities
• Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients
• Assemble supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians’ preference cards
• Inspect and ensure equipment is proper working condition and is sanitized appropriately according to regulations
• Maintain principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating procedure room procedures
• Adhere to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure
• Maintain inventory of instruments and supplies and partners with leadership for reorders
• Report observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy
• Respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
• Documents patient-care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures
• Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status
Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma or GED, required
• Licensure and Certifications: Completion of a surgical scrub technician course and CPR, required.
• Experience: Previous experience in an acute care surgery setting, preferred.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
