Position Summary

\n

As an interventional radiologic technologist, you’ll assist physicians with invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and more. Using sophisticated fluoroscopic equipment, you’ll be responsible for capturing images pertinent to the procedure. You must be knowledgeable about common procedures, equipment, and anatomy associated with interventional radiology procedures. The role of the Interventional Radiology Tech reports to the Imaging Manager.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Patient Communication including preprocedure explanation of procedure, participation in the preprocedure time-out, patient preparation
  • \n
  • Interpersonal communication with the patient care team, physician and patient
  • \n
  • For each procedure, assist or prepare the equipment necessary for imaging, contrast administration, patient positioning and access assessment as applicable
  • \n
  • Maintain sterile technique, monitor the patient’s vitals and interpret and communicate applicable lab values
  • \n
  • Ensure effective and efficient workflow is maintained to meet departmental standards
  • \n
  • Complete all required education and provide education to staff, as needed
  • \n
  • Ensure equipment, operations, and daily functions are maintained to meet Joint Commission standards, as needed
  • \n

Qualifications

  • \nEducation: Must be a graduate of an accredited radiology program
  • \n
  • \nLicensure and Certifications:  Arkansas Radiology license, required. BLS, required. ARRT with IR advanced registry preferred but not required; IR advanced registry must be obtained within one year of the date of hire
  • \n
  • \nExperience:  Previous experience in an acute care imaging services department, preferred.
  • \n

Work Environment: This position has exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, radiation, and chemicals common in Imaging departments.  This position spends 60% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 40% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position serves a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population.
