Walton Arts Center Inc. operates two campuses: a 1,200-seat proscenium theatre and 269-seat black box in Fayetteville and an 11,000-capacity outdoor Amphitheatre known as the Walmart AMP in Rogers, AR. Position Overview

The Visual Arts Gallery Attendant will support the Visual Arts team, Programming Department, and the Walton Arts Center by being a consistent attendant during evening and weekend open hours in the Alexander Gallery and assisting with some administrative tasks specific to the Visual Arts department.

Requirements

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions

Represent Walton Arts Center as the staff member on duty in the Alexander Gallery

  • Open and close the building based on current operating procedures
  • Work with gallery volunteers to ensure guests of the gallery are welcomed, assisted as needed, and tallied for our record

Assist with administrative details of the department as time allows

  • Track guest attendance
  • Assist with creation of work schedules
  • Research artists and artistic projects
  • Light dusting and organizing
  • Execute condition reports
  • Write daily summary of shift.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates and staff members from other departments
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain security and safety requirements as defined by operations guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Must be available to work a set schedule each week:
  • Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings – 4:45 – 8:15. Gallery is open to the public 5-8 p.m.
  • May be called upon to work additional hours if other staff is not available:
  • Saturday, 10:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Gallery is open to the public 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Gallery attendants must be pleasant and sociable, able to grasp and retain information about the exhibition on display as well as the gallery building to converse with guests.

Education, Training, Traits

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Maintain an energetic, positive, and professional attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Maintain a professional appearance aligning with the company's dress code policy
  • Comfortable with consistently adhering to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Strong verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with many different types of people
  • An on-going desire to learn and improve
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

Work Experience

  • 1 year of customer service experience preferred
  • 6 months of Gallery and/or retail experience preferred

Physical

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly (on telephone)
  • Must have a working cell phone and be willing to install basic applications and be willing to use it for work purposes
  • Must be able to endure sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to endure standing or walking for extended periods of time
Salary Description
$17 to $19
