What you'll do...
Role summary:As a (USA) Merchant at Walmart, you will lead category strategy development and execution for a moderately complex category, driving financial performance through effective pricing, promotion, and assortment planning. This role requires collaboration across channels and supply chain partners to optimize product offerings and customer experience. You will manage supplier relationships, oversee profit and loss responsibilities, and guide a team to achieve business objectives. Utilizing data analysis and market insights, you will influence strategic decisions that support growth and operational excellence while fostering a high-performing, ethical work environment.
About the team:
Our team collaborates with leading CPG companies to develop and deliver compelling product assortments from concept to execution. We focus on creating innovative, relevant selections that enhance the club experience for members. This cross-functional team partners with Finance, Replenishment, Marketing, Pricing, Merchandising, Product Development, and Sourcing to identify opportunities, build strong business strategies, and manage execution. By integrating customer insights, supplier relationships, financial discipline, and operational excellence, the team shapes assortments that drive growth and deliver value across all channels, supporting the club’s role as a key community destination.
What you'll do:
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with long-term business objectives for moderately complex categories.
- Manage profit and loss responsibilities, analyzing daily business performance to meet financial targets.
- Lead supplier negotiations, establishing terms, conditions, and performance metrics to drive price leadership and profitability.
- Oversee product assortment, pricing, promotion, and modular layout decisions to optimize customer experience across channels.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support inventory planning, replenishment, and feature execution in-store and online.
- Utilize data analysis and digital tools to inform strategic decisions and improve category performance.
- Manage and develop team members, fostering engagement and accountability.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in category and channel strategy development for moderately complex categories.
- Strong financial management skills, including profit and loss ownership and budget forecasting.
- Expertise in supplier management and negotiation to drive price leadership and profitability.
- Ability to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform decisions.
- Proficiency in assortment planning, product strategy, and new product development.
- Demonstrate cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive results.
- Skilled in leveraging data analytics and digital tools to influence strategic initiatives and improve outcomes.
- Commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement within a retail environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
