What you'll do...
Role summary:As an Associate Merchant, you will support category management by facilitating supplier negotiations, managing purchase orders, and resolving supplier-related issues to ensure accurate product setup across stores and online channels. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience through effective communication and merchandising strategies. Utilizing data analysis, you will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and promotional planning while driving continuous improvements. This role requires strong vendor relationship management and business acumen to support category performance and deliver value aligned with organizational goals.
About the team:
The Fishing team focuses on delivering a localized product assortment that connects customers with quality fishing gear and supplies. This team collaborates closely with suppliers and internal partners to ensure the right products are available both in stores and online. By leveraging data analysis and category strategy, the team supports effective vendor relationships and optimizes product offerings. Their efforts help enhance the customer experience by aligning assortment decisions with market demand and business goals, driving growth and satisfaction across Walmart’s fishing category.
What you'll do:
- Support merchants in supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories.
- Assist in resolving supplier issues and facilitate the setup of new suppliers for stores and online channels.
- Execute customer communication and education programs, ensuring accurate product page content and search query management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement category features, modular layouts, and promotional strategies.
- Analyze sales data and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for assigned categories.
- Provide recommendations on item setup, pricing, and assortment to optimize inventory and customer experience.
- Leverage data tools to generate reports and insights that inform business decisions.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within retail or e-commerce environments.
- Strong skills in category strategy development, product assortment, and sales analysis to support business growth.
- Proficiency in data analysis and business analysis to derive insights and inform decision-making.
- Ability to manage purchase orders, resolve supplier issues, and support item setup for stores and online channels.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally and support merchandising and promotional activities.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking financial performance against targets.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
