Role summary:The (USA) Specialist, Alarm Central plays a critical role in monitoring and responding to safety and security alarms by coordinating appropriate responses, including dispatching security patrols and alerting emergency services. About the team:
Alarm Central operates within the Emergency Operations Center and the Global Security Operations Center, supporting store, club, and distribution center managers alongside asset protection associates. The team manages fire, panic, and burglary alarms across Walmart locations in the United States and Puerto Rico, ensuring compliance with UL and NFPA standards. Operating 24/7/365, Alarm Central provides timely responses, training, and resources to responsible parties, enhancing safety and security. The team’s dedication ensures Walmart remains a secure environment for all, especially during peak periods such as holidays, by delivering reliable support and expert guidance around the clock.
What you'll do:
- Monitor and investigate alarms, coordinating timely responses including dispatching security patrols or alerting emergency services as necessary.
- Assist associates during safety or security events, ensuring their well-being and travel security.
- Conduct continuous reviews of multiple systems to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Notify and coordinate corporate responses by distributing advisories and communications related to safety or security incidents.
- Compile detailed daily and incident reports in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide backup and on-call security support as required, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in monitoring and responding to alarm systems, including fire and security alarms, in compliance with industry standards such as NFPA 72.
- Strong knowledge of access controls, alarm devices, and security systems to effectively manage safety and security events.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate responses, deliver advisories, and support associates during incidents.
- Ability to analyze multiple data sources to detect risks and compile detailed incident and daily reports.
- Commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
- Proficiency with software and telecommunications systems relevant to alarm central operations.

The hourly wage range for this position is $21.00 - $40.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
