Role summary:The Principal, Product Manager leads product strategy across multiple related products, driving organization-wide decisions through deep expertise and data-driven insights. This role shapes long-term vision, manages complex customer problems, and oversees product roadmaps to ensure alignment with business goals. By influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, the position advances innovative solutions and scalable practices. The Principal Product Manager fosters a culture of analytical rigor, mentors peers, and ensures ethical, compliant delivery while continuously optimizing product value and organizational impact.
About the team:
The Long Lead-Time Buying (L2B) team develops Walmart’s comprehensive buy planning and execution platform for seasonal and committed merchandise. Integrating AI-driven demand forecasting, buy quantification, allocation, and vendor constraint optimization, L2B streamlines workflows for merchants, planners, inventory, and vendor managers. This platform eliminates manual reconciliation by connecting forecasting to purchase order creation. Currently piloting in select departments, the team aims to scale across all long lead-time categories, significantly enhancing buying efficiency and performance at Walmart’s scale through innovative product strategy, stakeholder collaboration, and data-driven decision making.
What you'll do:
- Shape and drive product strategy across multiple related products, leveraging deep domain expertise and data-driven insights.
- Own complex customer problems and product requirements, considering upstream and downstream impacts.
- Develop and manage product roadmaps ensuring strategic alignment, technical feasibility, and resource prioritization.
- Establish scalable mechanisms for gathering and interpreting customer feedback and product usage data.
- Guide cross-functional teams in defining success metrics and validating product outcomes.
- Influence enterprise prioritization through customer insights and opportunity-sizing models.
- Mentor product managers and promote best practices across the product management discipline.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in defining and executing product strategy across multiple related products or large portfolios.
- Strong experience in developing and managing product roadmaps aligned with business goals and technical feasibility.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data-driven decision making, advanced analytics, and experimentation to optimize product outcomes.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with a track record of influencing senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of customer needs through design thinking, journey mapping, and process analysis.
- Ability to mentor and elevate product management practices across teams.
- Experience shaping long-term product vision using Whole Product concepts and competitive insights.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
