Position Summary...

As the Senior Director of Commercial Strategy and Development, you will lead the development of our global forwarding and commercial logistics strategy. You will build freight forwarding services to solve complex and unique customer needs. In this role, you’ll build the global logistics services we offer to shippers by working closely with marketplace and logistics teams on complex projects to scope, design, implement, and launch new commercial services. You will influence organizational change, oversee talent development, and manage the commercial P&L. Your leadership will be pivotal in advancing Walmart’s operational excellence and sustaining competitive advantage in a dynamic market environment.

About the team:

The team drives the development and scaling of global logistics and international freight forwarding services that prioritize convenience, reliability, and cost efficiency for marketplace sellers. It establishes strategic vision and executes ocean freight forwarding and consolidation initiatives. Leveraging extensive logistics and technology expertise, the team creates commercial product roadmaps aligned with Walmart’s systems strategy. Collaborating across supply chain, marketplace, product, and engineering functions, it delivers enterprise-wide programs, manages P&L responsibilities, and ensures financial targets. The team upholds accountability, integrity, and operational excellence to advance Walmart’s global logistics capabilities.

  • Deliver for the Customer: Lead customer engagements to understand needs and create services they love.
  • Moving Fast: Use freight forwarding expertise to prioritize capabilities that deliver unique value.
  • Lead the Commercial Product: Set goals, plans, and commercial requirements to drive growth, and execute launches across ocean freight (FCL/LCL), air freight, and adjacent services.
  • Work Cross-Functionally: Communicate and collaborate effectively.
  • Attract and Develop Talent: Hire and mentor global logistics leaders, champion Walmart Values, and foster a positive, optimistic team culture.
What you'll bring...
  • Extensive experience in global freight forwarding (Ocean & Air) with a proven track record of driving growth and reducing costs.
  • Strong expertise in freight forwarding to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities effectively.
  • Proven skills in cross-functional collaboration and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in talent management and leading change management initiatives.
  • Proficiency in leveraging information systems, technology roadmaps, and architecture strategy to drive product adoption and business development.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field and 6 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, transportation, or related
area OR 6 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, transportation, or related area.
3 years’ experience with advanced functionality of Microsoft Office.
3 years’ supervisory experience.
