What you'll do...

Role summary:
As Senior Manager, User Experience (UX) Design, you’ll lead a team of designers delivering high-quality experiences while growing their craft, impact, and careers. You’ll direct a portfolio of work, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and enable teams to do their best work at scale.
Ideal leaders balance people leadership, design quality, and strategic execution. You’ll guide teams through ambiguity, connect product decisions to a broader experience vision, and ensure deliverables meet high standards for usability, accessibility, inclusivity, and craft. You’ll also strengthen organizational health by developing talent, improving practice, and evolving how design works across teams.
About the team:
The People Experiences team within Walmart’s Global Design organization develops intuitive tools and agents that empower associates and people managers to succeed. The team focuses on creating seamless experiences that help associates quickly onboard, understand compensation, advance their careers, and maintain strong connections with leadership. Additionally, the team supports leaders by providing resources to hire, onboard, and develop talent effectively. Through collaboration and strategic design, the team drives solutions that enhance workforce engagement and skill development, contributing to the growth and success of Walmart’s next generation of associates and leaders.
What you'll do:
  • Lead, coach, and develop UX designers across levels; build effective team rituals.
  • Set expectations for design quality, scope, and impact; grow talent via feedback, mentorship, and performance development.
  • Oversee a portfolio across products/journeys; align to user needs, business priorities, and technical realities.
  • Partner cross-functionally to shape roadmaps and experience strategy.
  • Ensure intuitive, scalable, cohesive experiences across touchpoints, markets, and user groups.
  • Review/direct work for consistent strategy, patterns, and execution; uphold usability, accessibility, universal design principles.
  • Navigate ambiguity; frame problems, clarify priorities, and drive paths forward.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain top talent; build culture of belonging.
  • Influence leaders through communication, storytelling, and a clear POV on design’s impact.

What you'll bring:
  • Significant UX/product/experience design leadership in complex product or platform environments.
  • Proven success managing and developing designers across seniority levels.
  • Ability to connect strategy, execution, and team development.
  • Deep UX expertise: agentic design, systems thinking, and coherent end-to-end experiences.
  • Strong cross-functional partnership to align vision, priorities, and delivery.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 7 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience.
