What you'll do...
Role summary:The Director, Controllership provides strategic leadership in financial analysis, accounting and reporting to support business objectives. This role leads the oversight of financial accounting flows and processes , assists in inventory reporting and provides business support to the Supply Chain organization to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information. The Director collaborates cross-functionally to drive process improvements, supports business planning, and engages in a collaborative, high-performing team environment. By leveraging financial insights and operational expertise, this position contributes to informed decision-making and sustainable business growth within a dynamic and evolving environment.
About the team:
The Controllership team at Sam’s Club ensures precise financial reporting, strong internal controls, and adherence to accounting standards. Collaborating with finance, operations, and business partners, the team delivers timely financial insights to support strategic decisions. Emphasizing risk management and process improvement, it maintains regulatory compliance and operational excellence. By aligning financial planning with business goals, the team upholds organizational integrity and enables informed, data-driven outcomes that contribute to sustained business success.
What you'll do:
- Monthly close process for supply chain and transportation.
- Monitor the reconciliation between supply chain systems of inventory movement including supporting system and process transformation.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate existing processes as well as partnering with our shared services providers.
- Build and maintain relationships with business and finance partners.
- Provide accounting support for new supply chain initiatives including system conversions/implementations, infrastructure build, etc.
- Ensure supply chain related internal controls are designed and operating effectively as our business/operational strategies evolve.
- Participate in financial reporting and balance sheet account reviews to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support business goals and drive continuous process improvements.
What you'll bring:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation with extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proven experience in financial planning, profit and loss management, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong expertise in internal controls, risk mitigation, and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and oversee audits with accuracy and timeliness.
- Skilled in process improvement, project management, and leveraging data analysis to drive business results.
- Exceptional leadership capabilities fostering talent development, ethical standards, and collaborative partnerships.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
