What you'll do...
The Director, Flight Operations, Mid-Range Aircraft will manage a segment of the corporate flight department focused on medium range flights primarily across the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America as well as other international destinations. Reporting to the Vice President, Aviation, the right person will work together with peers and across the team providing safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient flight operations for Walmart Inc. Job Description Ensuring a highly functioning safety culture and efficient flight operations by developing processes for daily flight activities and contingencies for irregular operations, coordinating with teams to align planning, maintenance and operations functions to ensure on-time performance and collaborating and negotiating with customers in the planning process. Ensure safe and efficient flight operations by researching variables that affect operations or safety, identifying and anticipating risks, developing recommendations, specific guidelines, and standard operating procedures based on the regulatory environment, best industry practice alignment, research and analysis collaborating with Corporate Aviation leadership to implement strategies and policies; and developing procedures and contingency plans for instances where strategies and policies conflict with operational realities. The Director, Flight Operations, Mid-Range Aircraft will lead a team of Chief Pilots that have specific responsibility to ensure that Walmart Global Aviation has Captain qualified pilots to support the missions of Walmart, Inc., by ensuring that the mid-range aircraft have sufficient crew assigned to support the operations daily. This position is responsible for all facets of safety, flight crew qualification, and readiness, adherence to regulations, meeting industry standards all while meeting the mission requirements ensuring all aircraft are crewed daily. What you’ll do…- Ensure that all Mid-Range aircraft are crewed daily with safe, proficient, capable Captain-level pilots that can leverage their operating experience, to meet Walmart Global Aviation Standards, that support the values of Walmart; Respect for the Individual, Performance Excellence, Integrity and Supporting the Customer, internal and external.
- Cultivating an environment where associates respect and adhering to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open-Door Policy.
- Ensuring compliance with domestic and foreign laws and regulations governing aviation activities; translating regulations into actionable procedures for associates; measuring and analyzing Aviation Department performance for compliance with relevant regulations; and developing remediation procedures if standards are not met.
- Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability. Directing emergency response planning, recovery, and business continuity efforts, owns the Standard Operating Procedures for the mid-range fleet.
- Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled, and engaged workforce; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
- Works with the other Aviation Group Directors to build on anticipating, planning and executing the aviation mission.
What you’ll bring…
- 10 years of aviation operations experience, as a leader, decision-maker and team-builder
- 3 years of Chief Pilot or equivalent experience managing complex domestic operations and supervising pilots with domestic and secondary international experience
- Air Transport Pilot Rating, 3,500 hours total time, 2,000 hours in complex aircraft, 1,000 hours PIC (500 in turbine aircraft), multiple type ratings, preferred type ratings on aircraft we currently operate.
- Valid, current, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Class I Medical Certificate
- Valid passport eligibility

The annual salary range for this position is $195,000.00 - $370,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
