What you'll do...
Role summary:The Inventory Accounting Center of Excellence (COE) is hiring a Senior Manager, Record to Report for our Bentonville, Arkansas location. This high-impact role will partner closely with Controllership, Supply Chain, Merch Finance, and Technology teams to support inventory accounting processes, financial reporting, SOX compliance, and cross-functional initiatives across North America. This role will help drive financial accuracy, process improvements, automation, and strong internal controls in one of Walmart’s most critical accounting areas.
About the team:
The Inventory Accounting Center of Excellence (COE) ensures financial accuracy, inventory reporting, and internal controls across Walmart North America. This team collaborates with Controllership, Supply Chain, Merch Finance, Operations, and Technology to manage inventory accounting processes, support compliance, and resolve complex inventory matters. It drives automation and process improvements to enhance financial oversight and operational efficiency. The team values cross-functional partnership and continuous improvement to maintain robust financial controls and deliver accurate, timely reporting that supports Walmart’s business objectives.
What you'll do:
- Oversee the inventory accounting month-end close activities.
- Support SOX compliance and internal control execution for inventory-related processes, including coordination with Internal Audit and External Audit teams.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Merch Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to investigate and resolve inventory related issues.
- Drive root cause analysis and resolution of inventory discrepancies, timing differences, and system interface issues impacting financial reporting.
- Monitor and analyze inventory trends, gross profit fluctuations, shrink, markdowns, and inventory reserve activity to support accurate financial results.
- Develop and implement automation, process simplification, and reporting enhancements through tools such as SAP, Code Puppy/VS Code, and Power BI.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 4 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 2 years of supervisory experience OR 2 years of experience leading and completing cross-functional projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive issue resolution across complex processes.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Inventory accounting, supply chain, or public accounting experience preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
