Role summary:
The Manager, Specialty Compliance and Ethics, oversees the consistent application of compliance and ethical standards within their area of responsibility. This role involves monitoring relevant laws and regulations, developing and updating policies, and collaborating with leadership to address compliance concerns. The position requires managing legislative assessments, conducting impact analyses, and providing strategic recommendations to senior management. The manager fosters strong stakeholder relationships, supports associate development, and ensures adherence to company values and ethical practices, driving continuous improvement and accountability across the business.
About the team:
The AI Governance team at Walmart leads the ethical and responsible application of Artificial Intelligence, driving innovation in retail for customers and associates. This team ensures adherence to regulatory requirements by monitoring laws, assessing risks, and developing strategic responses. Collaborating across functions, the team identifies risks, guides mitigation efforts, and implements standards for responsible AI use. Focused on leadership, governance, and clear communication, the team supports continuous improvement and upholds Walmart’s commitment to industry AI principles and regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
What you'll do:
  • Conduct AI risk assessments for regulatory compliance and
  • Provide support to new initiatives related to AI programs and processes
  • Identify and report compliance concerns, provide guidance on mitigation steps, and follow up with relevant teams.
  • Foster accountability, continuous improvement, and adherence to ethical standards across the business.
  • Able to manage workload through prioritization, ensuring business initiatives are not delayed
  • Collaborate with legal, security, and other compliance teams to provide clear, actionable guidance

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in compliance management, risk management legal or AI governance.
  • Good understanding of AI technologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across multiple levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities to identify compliance gaps and recommend strategic resolutions.
  • Demonstrated accountability and adaptability in managing compliance programs and responding to evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to analyze compliance risk, assist in mitigation efforts, and communicate findings effectively to the relevant audience

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and 2 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area.
2 years’ experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office.
