Role summary:The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees technical delivery, lifecycle management, and cloud-native architecture while driving continuous improvement through DevOps practices and automation. The position requires collaboration across teams to integrate AI capabilities, optimize cloud costs, and maintain high system availability. Additionally, the role involves mentoring engineers, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring technical excellence to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that support business objectives and innovation.
About the team:
Walmart’s Omni strategy team develops and maintains backend systems that manage replenishment and inventory flow for Walmart and Sam’s Club. This engineering group collaborates closely with merchants, suppliers, and product teams to ensure product availability meets customer needs. Combining large-scale data engineering with practical business impact, the team supports services such as curbside pickup and in-home delivery. Leveraging physical store proximity, they enhance speed and convenience, playing a vital role in Walmart’s omnichannel capabilities and ongoing innovation. The team values collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement to deliver seamless shopping experiences.
What you'll do:
- Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with domain priorities and roadmap milestones.
- Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure development and seamless system integration.
- Drive full software development lifecycle across teams, championing DevOps architecture, CI/CD practices, and cloud cost optimization.
- Collaborate with product and data teams to design and deliver AI-integrated software serving millions of users.
- Mentor engineers, promote technical quality, and guide architectural decisions to ensure maintainability and performance.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, track milestones, and align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Foster continuous improvement through innovation, automation, and operational excellence.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience leading platform engineering and software development lifecycle management.
- Proven expertise in project and stakeholder management to align technical initiatives with business goals.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps architecture, CI/CD practices, and cloud-native solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize cloud financial management and implement automation for operational efficiency.
- Skilled in mentoring and developing engineering teams to foster technical excellence and innovation.
- Proficient in guiding architectural design, system integration, and ensuring high system availability and scalability.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience.
