What you'll do...
Role summary:The Director, Automation Strategy will lead the development of Walmart International’s global supply chain automation strategy. The role will define the strategic direction, decision framework, vendor approach, business-case narrative, and leadership alignment required to move from fragmented market-by-market automation decisions to a more coherent global strategy. The Director will partner with International leadership, market supply chain leaders, engineering, operations, finance, real estate, product/technology, and external automation vendors to determine where Walmart should standardize globally, where regional solutions are more appropriate, and where market-specific economics require tailored approaches.

Our team shapes Walmart International’s global supply chain network strategy, with automation as one important lever. We build a long-range vision across markets, formats, and node types, and evaluate tradeoffs in capacity, speed, cost, resilience, and service. The team partners with market leaders, operations, real estate, finance, and technology to turn complex market needs into coherent, scalable decisions that support capital investment, network design, and operating model choices.
What you'll do:
- Lead Walmart International’s automation strategy across markets, formats, and node types.
- Define the decision framework for where to apply common global standards and where to adapt by market conditions.
- Develop clear, decision-ready analyses, business cases, and presentations that compare technology options and support leadership decisions.
- Partner with colleagues across operations, finance, real estate, product, and technology to align on capital priorities, operating models, and implementation plans.
- Set work priorities, review deliverables, and ensure high-quality analysis and effective cross-functional coordination.

- Proven experience developing and executing strategies grounded in market analysis and business priorities.
- Strong ability to lead cross-functional work, manage complex initiatives, and turn analysis into clear recommendations.
- Skilled at building decision frameworks, communicating with senior leaders, and driving alignment across stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success improving processes, prioritizing high-impact work, and supporting execution from concept through implementation.
- Experience developing talent, coaching others, and building teams where people feel they belong and can contribute their best work.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 6 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience
