Role summary:

The Manager, Product Development (Seafood & Sushi) oversees product specifications throughout the entire lifecycle to ensure quality and alignment with business objectives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing sourcing activities, and driving product strategies based on market research and data analysis. The position requires identifying and resolving issues through root cause analysis, streamlining processes, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external partners. Additionally, the manager leads and develops associates, supports compliance with company policies, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to deliver products that meet customer needs and organizational goals.
About the team:

The Product Development team at Sam’s Club leads innovation and quality enhancement for Member’s Mark products, focusing on profitable growth and exceptional customer experience. Collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional partners including Merchants, Sourcing, Quality, Packaging, and Creative teams, they manage product strategies and lifecycle processes. The team addresses complex challenges through strategic insight and clear communication, ensuring alignment and timely delivery. By fostering strong partnerships, leveraging data-driven decisions, and promoting continuous improvement, the team supports business objectives and enhances product offerings across online and in-store channels.
What you'll do:
  • Manage product specifications throughout the entire lifecycle to ensure quality and alignment with customer needs for the Seafood and Sushi categories.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive product development initiatives and resolve issues.
  • Conduct industry benchmarking and analyze data to inform product strategies and identify trends.
  • Oversee sample assortments, product approvals, and production processes to meet timelines and standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and address product variances and production challenges.
  • Communicate updates and recommendations to cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Support sourcing activities and ensure accurate documentation and audit compliance.
  • Lead and develop team members, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Proven experience managing product lifecycle from development through production to ensure quality and alignment with customer needs.
  • Strong skills in cross-functional project management and collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Expertise in product strategy, design, and process improvement to drive business performance.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and recommend effective solutions to resolve product issues.
  • Proficient in communicating complex information clearly across multiple channels and teams.
  • Demonstrated capability in sourcing coordination and ensuring compliance with documentation and audit requirements.
  • Leadership experience in mentoring and developing team members to achieve departmental objectives.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
