Position Summary...
The Director, Operations Finance at Sam’s Finance leads comprehensive financial planning, analysis, and forecasting to support operational decision-making across regions. This role involves developing P&L insights, sizing business initiatives, financial planning and partnering with business leaders to drive business performance. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional partners to identify trends, assess financial impacts, and recommend strategies that enhance operational efficiency and profitability. The Director ensures strong financial controls, supports month-end close processes, and drives continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.About the Team
The Sam’s Club Operations Finance team drives financial strategy into actionable outcomes by enhancing profitability, managing risk, and improving operational efficiency. The team collaborates closely with business leaders and finance partners to translate fiscal goals into detailed plans through thorough analysis. Central to transformation efforts, the team develops scalable programs by defining scope, quantifying value, and building business cases. Combining strategic insight with practical execution, the team integrates analytics into daily workflows, empowering leaders with data-driven decision support to achieve business objectives effectively.
What you'll do...
- Developing business cases and sizing initiatives.
- Prepare and communicate budgets at regional, market, and club levels, incorporating historical data and business impacts.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership and Finance teams to finalize budgets and update forecasts throughout the fiscal year.
- Lead month-end closing activities, reviewing income statements, reconciling balance sheets, and ensuring accuracy of financial reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, supporting operational improvements and strategic planning.
- Drive process improvements to strengthen financial controls and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Partner with business leaders to align financial strategies with operational goals and resource requirements.
- Extensive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and profit and loss management within large operational environments.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain financial forecasting models and perform detailed business case analyses.
- Strong expertise in month-end closing processes, financial planning, and variance analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Proficiency in leveraging advanced tools such as Power BI, Essbase, and Excel for data-driven insights and reporting.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with business objectives.
- Skilled in identifying process improvements and implementing financial controls to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to senior leadership and business partners.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
