Position Summary...
This role is a strategic leader responsible for defining and executing Walmart’s approach to tax-advantaged clean energy investments. Leading Walmart’s energy strategy, leveraging tax equity, tax credit transfers, structured finance, and capital partnerships to unlock new generation capacity, influence market development, and mitigate long-term electricity cost exposure is central to this role.This role is at the intersection of corporate strategy, capital markets, and energy infrastructure—shaping Walmart’s position as a leading market participant in clean energy finance. You will drive enterprise alignment, influence stakeholders including developers, financial institutions, and policymakers, and guide investment decisions materially impacting Walmart’s financials and sustainability outcomes.
The Offsite Energy Investments team leads Walmart’s grid-connected clean energy initiatives, focusing on tax-advantaged investments, power purchase agreement origination, and managing market exposure in deregulated regions. The team collaborates with developers, utilities, and internal partners to structure transactions that unlock federal tax credits and attract third-party capital. These efforts support new generation capacity, enhance grid reliability, and deliver long-term financial value by mitigating electricity cost exposure. The team plays a key role in advancing Walmart’s energy strategy through strategic partnerships and effective portfolio management in alignment with company goals.
What you'll do...
- Set and lead strategy for Walmart’s tax equity and tax-advantaged investment platform
- Own the end-to-end investment lifecycle for a large-scale tax equity investments and credit transfers, including origination, diligence, structuring, execution, and ongoing portfolio optimization
- Shape market participation and influence industry direction
- Serve as a senior cross-functional leader, driving alignment across Energy, Tax, Finance, Controllership, Treasury, and Legal
- Advise executive leadership on investment strategy, market dynamics, regulatory developments, and capital allocation decisions
- Oversee portfolio performance
- Identify and scale new opportunities where tax-advantaged capital can accelerate emerging energy solutions and unlock new sources of value
- Lead external engagement with developers, financial institutions, investors, and policymakers
- Passion for clean energy, market transformation, and driving long-term sustainable value
- Expertise in structured finance, tax equity, project finance, or infrastructure investing, with a track record of leading complex, large-scale transactions
- Demonstrated ability to set strategy and lead through influence across large, matrixed organizations
- Strong commercial acumen with experience making or advising on capital allocation decisions with enterprise-level impact
- Proven ability to engage and influence external stakeholders and market participants, including developers, investors, and financial institutions
- Experience building and managing investment portfolios, including performance optimization and risk management frameworks
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and market concepts for executive audiences

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

5+ years of experience in the energy industry leading teams focused on origination, development, and/or capital formation for renewable energy projects., Demonstrable track record of commercializing or executing investments in renewable energy projects and/or securing partnerships in support of such activities., Excellent written and verbal communication skills., Experience operating in a large, global organization., In-depth understanding of both competitive and regulated energy markets., Master's degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
