Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Construction-DS; Fuel oversees the delivery of fuel construction projects across Walmart’s portfolio, with ownership of scope, schedule, and budget. What you'll do...

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Construction Project Execution & Delivery
  • Accountable for the execution of fuel construction projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Leads and direct general contractors, architects, and engineering firms to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and construction documentation requirements.
  • Reviews and approve construction drawings, specifications, and submittals to confirm alignment with approved design standards prior to procurement and construction.
  • Own project governance, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, resolving blockers, and driving decisions with cross‑functional partners to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Own pre‑ and post‑construction services, including page turns, contractor bid strategy and pricing negotiations, development and coordination of integrated, cross‑functional schedules, and all pre‑planning activities required prior to construction start, while driving accountability through final project closeout.

Construction Project Compliance
  • Drive Walmart’s construction compliance program by holding contractors accountable for setting up projects according to Walmart and industry standards, checking compliance items routinely, and working with contractors to address any compliance concerns during the life of the project.
  • Conduct compliance reviews of construction plans against Walmart design standards, identifying deviations and driving corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all construction activities meet applicable local, state, and federal building codes, ADA requirements, and Walmart safety and environmental standards, holding contractors and partners accountable for adherence to standards.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external design and construction partners during project execution, facilitating issue resolution and maintaining alignment on deliverables and timelines.
  • Review contractor RFIs, negotiate and approve change order requests/submittals; provide timely responses to minimize construction delays and cost impacts.
  • Monitors vendor performance by tracking key metrics related to quality, schedule, and compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Store Development, Facilities Management, Procurement, and Operations teams to align construction standards with operational needs and enterprise priorities.
  • Prepare and present project status updates, issue logs, and budget tracking reports to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including meeting minutes, decision logs, and change management records throughout the project lifecycle.

Process Improvement & Knowledge Management
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline construction project delivery processes, reduce cycle times, and improve design for constructability, driving implementation across the program.
  • Document lessons learned, standard operating procedures, and playbooks to enable consistent and repeatable project execution across the team.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & TRAVEL
  • Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., construction drawings, specifications, reports).
  • Create written documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Communicate effectively in person and via telecommunications.
  • Present information to groups and individuals.
  • Enter and locate information on computer systems.
  • Conduct on-site visits to construction sites and other Walmart facilities.
Position requires travel of up to 75% to Walmart locations, construction sites, and partner offices for on-site reviews, inspections, and project meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field and 3+ years experience in construction management, construction administration, engineering, architecture, or a related area OR
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction management, construction administration, engineering, architecture, or a related area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience managing multi-site or site-specific construction projects—such as fuel stations, convenience retail, or similar environments— including ground-up builds, as a project manager or superintendent for a general contractor or owner.
  • Expertise in construction project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of sustainability, energy efficiency, and green building standards (LEED or equivalent).
  • Professional certification (OSHA10, OSHA30, PE, PMP, CCM, LEED AP, or equivalent).
  • Understanding and experience with procurement and contract management processes for construction services.
  • Experience in compliance in construction and real estate management, or related area.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
