As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving technical excellence across multiple teams. The team leads Walmart’s talent acquisition technology, supporting recruitment for 2.4 million associates across all levels. They design and manage scalable software solutions that enable hiring from front-line to executive roles. With expertise in technical solution design, project management, and process improvement, the team drives innovation and operational excellence. Collaborating cross-functionally, they deliver reliable, efficient, and secure systems aligned with business objectives. Focused on continuous improvement, the team upholds accountability, technical excellence, and strategic impact within Walmart’s global hiring ecosystem.
What you'll do:

• Lead platform engineering efforts to deliver scalable, cloud-native infrastructure and reusable tooling aligned with strategic roadmaps.
• Drive full software development lifecycle management, including design, testing, deployment, and maintenance across multiple teams.
• Architect and implement distributed systems optimized for real-time data processing and AI/ML integration.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, promoting best practices and architectural consistency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements and measurable success metrics.
• Ensure technical ownership by delivering high-quality solutions and resolving complex issues proactively.
• Foster continuous improvement through innovation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of emerging technologies.

What you'll bring:

• Extensive experience leading platform engineering initiatives, shared infrastructure and scalable ML frameworks.
• Proficiency in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design ensuring availability and fault tolerance.
• Strong expertise in full software development lifecycle management across multiple teams.
• Proven ability to architect AI-enhanced applications and integrate AI agents using languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
• Skilled in applying model-driven design and leveraging modern development tools to enhance quality and velocity.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions for system interoperability.
• Effective collaboration, communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders to define technical requirements and success metrics.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, adapting to evolving technologies and business needs.

Bellevue, Washington US-11075: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-06100: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
