Position Summary...
The Senior Director, Business Development & Partnerships will play a critical leadership role in accelerating Walmart+ member growth by shaping and scaling a best-in-class partner ecosystem. This leader will define and execute the strategy for how external partnerships enhance the Walmart+ value proposition, driving acquisition, deepening engagement, improving retention, and increasing long-term member value.This role sits at the intersection of strategy, deal-making, and cross-functional execution. The Senior Director will work closely with Product, Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to define the role of third-party benefits within Walmart+, ensuring the membership consistently delivers compelling, differentiated value and “pays for itself” for members.
The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision with strong commercial instincts, identifying high-impact partnership opportunities, structuring and negotiating complex agreements, and building durable, mutually beneficial relationships that align with Walmart’s mission and long-term strategy.
What you'll do...
- Lead and set the strategic direction for benefits partnerships that accelerate Walmart+ member growth, aligning initiatives to business objectives, customer needs, and long-term value creation.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex, high-impact partnerships—from identifying opportunities and building business cases to structuring commercial constructs, leading negotiations, and scaling execution.
- Serve as the senior executive owner for third-party partner relationships, ensuring partners deliver on contractual commitments and performance expectations while driving customer value and mutual outcomes.
- Sponsor cross-functional collaboration across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Finance, PR, and Partner Management to launch differentiated member offerings and integrate them into the broader Walmart+ ecosystem.
- Drive the creation and approval of partnership business cases by incorporating financial forecasts, customer impact, operational feasibility, and risk assessments to inform executive decision-making.
- Oversee financial performance and value realization for benefits partnerships, including evaluating ROI, managing trade-offs, and identifying opportunities to optimize or evolve offerings over time.
- Identify, assess, and help mitigate commercial, operational, and reputational risks associated with external partnerships by partnering closely with Legal, Compliance, and Finance.
- Build, develop, and scale a high-performing business development team through coaching, strategic guidance, and succession planning to ensure sustained organizational capability.
What you’ll bring...
- Extensive experience in strategic partnerships and business development, including structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements and collaborating with legal counsel.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an enterprise partnership strategy (beyond individual deal execution) and translate it into measurable member and business outcomes.
- Strong executive presence and credibility with senior stakeholders (internal and external), with a track record of influencing and aligning cross-functional teams.
- Financial and commercial acumen, including experience owning significant budgets and evaluating trade-offs to maximize ROI.
- Experience leading large, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed teams to deliver complex initiatives at scale.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications...
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in strategic partnerships or business development structuring and negotiating complex agreements, including interpreting legal documents and work with attorneys to complete agreements.
- Experience negotiating complex agreements and finding win-win solutions.
- Experience owning significant budget, financial, or P&L responsibility, including evaluating trade-offs to maximize return on investment.
- Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed teams to deliver complex business initiatives at scale.
- Experience setting and executing enterprise business development or partnership strategy, not solely individual deal execution
- Background working with sales, marketing, and product organizations to drive adoption, usage, and performance of externally sourced offerings.
- Proven ability to operate effectively with executive and C‑level stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Travel up to 20% of the time, including regular trips to Bentonville, AR.

Bentonville, Arkansas US-30008: The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00
Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279: The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00 - $312,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
