Join Walmart’s AI Revolution in Last-Mile Delivery In Walmart’s Last-Mile Delivery team, we’re building intelligent systems that combine real-time data, AI agents, and scalable platforms to power our delivery infrastructure. Spark Driver—our largest last-mile network—now spans all 50 states, reaches over 94% of U.S. households, and plays a pivotal role in Walmart’s eCommerce growth by enabling fast, flexible, and cost-effective fulfillment. Position Summary We are seeking a Sr. Manager (IC), Data Science - Last Mile Forecasting & Optimization who brings deep expertise in ML and operations research methods to solve large scale forecasting and logistics optimization problems. The problem statements include but not limit to 1) near real-time Spark driver supply and demand forecasting 2) mid-long range last mile demand forecasting 3) dynamic capacity and costs optimization across diverse delivery assets. What You'll Do- Develop advanced ML algorithms to forecast demand and Spark driver supply across all horizons (intraday, intraweek, and 52 weeks horizon).
- Develop multi-delivery asset demand allocation and capacity optimization engine using core operations research and simulation methods.
- Develop predictive simulation and scenario evaluation capabilities to balance supply and demand while minimizing costs.
- Drive synergies across different models / engines in terms of algorithmic innovation and sharing of best practices.
- Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives.
- Translate business requirements into strategies, initiatives, and projects, align them with business strategy and objectives, and drive the execution of deliverables.
- Clearly communicate technical approaches with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Quantify business impact and ensure regular impact measurement of all ML products in the domain.
- Identify and review model evaluation metrics based on analytical requirements.
- Provide thought-leadership to Walmart LMD leadership and business partners in delivering AI / ML solutions to strategic areas.
- PhD (or Master) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
- 4+ years of programming in Python, R, Spark, HiveQL, SQL or related language experience
- 6+ years of building large scale optimization / operations research algorithms and machine learning models for supply chain and logistics applications
- Experience in GCP/Azure.
- Experience collaborating across product, operations, and technical teams.
- Effective communicator with an ability to explain complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
- PhD (or Master) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
- Experience in publications at top-tier conferences or journals
- 8+ years of building optimization / operations research algorithms and machine learning models for supply chain and logistics applications
- 8+ years of mathematics optimization such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization experience
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. Experiences with presenting to senior leadership.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
