As the Sr Manager of Insights Consulting, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Walmart’s strategies across our suite of private brands in General Merchandise categories, including Electronics, Toys, Seasonal, Home, and Hardlines. Core Responsibilities:- Insights Leadership: Lead qualitative and quantitative research connected to updating, renovating, developing, and maintaining the health of our General Merchandise private Walmart brands, including exploratory research, focus groups/iDi’s, ethnographies, name testing, concept testing, shelf testing, and post launch tracking. Leverage expertise in utilizing a variety of data sources (including panel/syndicated tools) & innovative methodologies to uncover meaningful insights relevant to in-store & online shopping behaviors, the latest industry trends, and customer needs that are key to building a suite of brands that new & existing customers come to Walmart for.
- Consultative Partnership: Act as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor to Merchandising, Marketing, Brand Strategy, Design, and Product Development teams. Provide research-backed recommendations that influence decision-making and drive business outcomes. Design and promote best practice research processes & frameworks into brand focused workstreams within a matrixed organization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives, building strong relationships with executives across the General Merchandise and Customer Insights & Strategy organization, in addition to external vendor partners, to ensure alignment and impact.
- Storytelling & Communication: Translate complex research findings into compelling narratives. Use storytelling to communicate customer insights to senior leadership, including SVPs, and other non-technical audiences, in simple and digestible ways that drive action.
- Data Analytics & Project Management: Apply advanced analytics and visualization tools to deliver high-quality insights. Manage third-party vendors and ensure timely execution of research projects, with a strong focus on prioritization.
- Strategic Perspective: Make omni-channel recommendations related to our suite of private brands with a customer-centric and holistic business approach, ensuring relevance across digital and physical retail experiences.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of curiosity, learning, and innovation to elevate the quality and influence of insights, including an interest in both more classic and innovative research methodologies which incorporate the use of AI.
- Talent & Team Development: Mentor associates, foster collaboration, and uphold Walmart’s values of belonging and inclusion.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in primary research – including quantitative and qualitative research – or retail analytics, with expertise across a broad spectrum of research methodologies, databases, social listening resources, and data visualization tools. Experience with brand building / innovation focused insight processes in particular is preferred.
- Strong understanding around applying learnings from syndicated data and panel data tools that impact business strategies.
- Proven ability to lead complex consulting projects, ideally in retail contexts and/or with a focus on branding.
- Exceptional communication (including presenting), storytelling, and organizational skills.
- Experience working cross-functionally, influencing senior leadership (up to SVP/EVP level), and managing multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of ownership.
- Passion for translating data into actionable, customer-focused insights.
- Experience managing third-party research vendors.
Travel:
- Some travel may be required to conduct research, visit Walmart offices/facilities, and attend relevant conferences (less than 25%).
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing research, customer insights, data analytics, consulting, or a related field

Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279: The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $216,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-30008: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
