Position Summary...
The Senior Manager, Transportation Maintenance is a pivotal role within the Walmart Fleet Services team, purpose-built to drive continuous improvement across every dimension of fleet operations. This position leads the design, implementation, and scaling of process optimization initiatives—embedding Safety, Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies into the operational DNA of Fleet Services. Safety excellence is woven into Fleet Services culture by engineering safer, more standardized workflows, this role ensures that operational improvement and safety outcomes reinforce each other.The position reports to the Director of Fleet Services Automation Engineering and requires up to 35% travel.
What you'll do...
Lead with Safety and Purpose- Champion a safety-first culture across Fleet Maintenance where every associate goes home safe — every day.
- Own safety governance across TMG locations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and Walmart standards.
- Lead audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions with urgency and transparency, embedding proactive risk identification into daily operations.
- Own the Continuous Improvement strategy for Fleet Maintenance, delivering measurable gains in safety, reliability, cost, and productivity.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving to eliminate waste, reduce downtime, and close systemic performance gaps.
- Build a culture where process discipline and standard work are the foundation of how we operate.
- Design and implement clear, standardized safety and maintenance SOPs across locations to ensure consistent execution.
- Clarify cross-functional accountability and strengthen partnerships across Transportation, Safety, Finance, and Operations.
- Establish KPIs and operating rhythms that reinforce ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage data and leading indicators to anticipate safety risks, identify inefficiencies, and improve fleet health.
- Build simple, transparent reporting that gives leaders real-time visibility into performance and impact.
- Test, learn, and scale solutions that deliver sustainable results across the network.
- Own end-to-end delivery of safety and CI initiatives—from strategy and stakeholder alignment through execution and sustainment.
- Engage field leaders and technicians with clear communication, training, and reinforcement plans that drive adoption.
- Influence across levels of the organization, building coalitions that accelerate progress.
- Quantify and communicate the financial impact of safety and operational improvements, connecting initiatives to cost avoidance, risk reduction, and P&L performance.
- Build strong, data-backed business cases that prioritize investments with the highest return for Walmart.
What you’ll bring…
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification strongly preferred
- 3–6 years’ experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in engineering, supply chain, fleet, or automated manufacturing environments
- Proven track record of applying Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to achieve measurable efficiency gains and cost reduction at scale
- Strong analytical capability, comfortable working with data to identify trends, test hypotheses, and build performance dashboards
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change in large, matrixed organizations
- Experience integrating safety standards and regulatory compliance into operational processes and CI programs
- Excellent communication and influencing skills—able to build credibility with frontline teams and senior leadership alike
- Strong business acumen and ownership mindset—you see projects through from ideation to sustained results

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
