Position Summary...
Walmart is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Communications to join the International Communications team. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across global markets, driving media engagement, impactful storytelling, and seamless collaboration with in-market teams to elevate Walmart’s brand worldwide. You will also play a pivotal role in advancing Walmart International’s government relations, public affairs, and corporate affairs agenda. - Lead Through Influence with Global Market Teams: Invest in relationships with in-country communications teams, contributing to collaboration as a true international communications team. Work closely with communications leads in each international market to identify compelling stories, align messaging, and support local initiatives with global relevance.
- Integrate Brand-First Enterprise Storytelling: Bring our international narrative to life through media stories that highlight Walmart’s impact, innovation, and commitment to customers, associates, and communities around the world. Work with peer teams within International and Global Communications to extend those stories beyond media into internal channels across the enterprise.
- Strengthen External Engagement: Ensure communications alignment on global government and public affairs interactions are conducted in compliance with applicable protocols, company policies, and in coordination with the appropriate Corporate Affairs teams.
- Embrace AI-Driven Transformation: As a leader in Global Communications, you will be expected to champion the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence into the way we work—helping our team evolve, adapt, and lead in an increasingly AI-enabled communications environment.
- Drive Innovation: Stay informed on trends and emerging technologies relevant to corporate communications, international affairs, media relations, content creation, and reputation management.
- Partner with in-market, global, and enterprise communications teams on sensitive issues, ensuring timely and coordinated messaging on key topics.
- Collaborate with Corporate Affairs teams to ensure consistent management, oversight, and communications alignment of global government relations and public affairs initiatives.
- Track media coverage and sentiment, providing regular analysis and actionable insights to leadership.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with team members, business partners, and external stakeholders.
- Communicate with impact and listen attentively to motivate, influence, and inspire commitment and action across global markets.
- Bring Walmart’s purpose — helping people save money so they can live better — to life across the globe
- Serve as a high-level company spokesperson and as a primary point of contact for media requests.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists and media outlets covering Walmart International.
- Prepare and support Walmart leaders as spokespeople by developing briefing materials, talking points, and providing media training as required.
- Craft media materials, press releases, social media posts, op-eds, and other digital content to drive engagement and reinforce Walmart’s reputation.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field and 5 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area.2 years’ supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional teams.
