Position Summary...
Join Walmart’s Transportation Engineering team and help architect the future of one of the largest private fleets in North America. As part of Supply Chain Engineering, our team leads the transformation of Walmart’s transportation network through zero-emissions technology, autonomous solutions, advanced infrastructure, yard modernization, and intelligent fleet integration.This role will primarily focus on advancing zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) strategy and deployment as we work toward our commitment to achieve zero emissions by 2040, while collaborating across autonomous and advanced fleet initiatives. You’ll research emerging technologies, design scalable infrastructure solutions, lead pilots, and operationalize next-generation transportation systems across our national fleet.
About the Team
Walmart Transportation Engineering sits at the intersection of sustainability, automation, infrastructure, and large-scale operations. We design and deploy the next generation of fleet technologies — from electric yard trucks and Class 8 tractors to charging infrastructure, shore power systems, and autonomous vehicle enablement.
Our team partners closely with Transportation Operations, Energy, Construction, Product, and external technology providers to integrate innovation into live distribution center environments. We move technologies from concept to pilot to scaled deployment — ensuring solutions are operationally sound, financially viable, and built to support the customer promise.
We are a small, high-impact team responsible for shaping the long-term strategy of Walmart’s transportation ecosystem.
This onsite position is based at our Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas. A full relocation package is available; remote applicants are not being considered
What you'll do...
- Develop and execute zero-emission vehicle and infrastructure deployment strategies
- Lead pilots and scale integration of electric and alternative-fuel technologies
- Design and optimize charging, energy, and fleet infrastructure solutions
- Translate emerging technologies into operationally viable solutions
- Build business cases, financial models, and long-term investment roadmaps
- Analyze operational and fleet data to inform engineering decisions
- Partner cross-functionally to align engineering solutions with operational readiness
- Influence internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic transformation
- Engineering experience deploying electrification, alternative energy systems, or advanced transportation technologies at scale
- Experience implementing infrastructure or complex systems in operational environments
- Strong analytical, modeling, and data-driven decision-making skills
- Ability to move from strategy to execution in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Experience influencing cross-functional partners and external vendors
- Background in mechatronics, power systems, process design, automation, or engineering economics is beneficial

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 4 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area. Option 2: 6years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience.
