Role summary:As a Software Engineer III, you will lead the design and development of scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective resolutions to enhance system performance. This role involves managing project requirements, coding, testing, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining high standards of quality, security, and maintainability. You will also provide technical guidance to small engineering teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within an agile development environment.
About the team:
The Merchant Technology Cost Platform team develops scalable and reliable software solutions aligned with Walmart’s platform goals. Collaborating across functions, the team delivers features, APIs, and AI/ML components using iterative development and continuous integration. Members apply strong technical expertise in coding, debugging, and design while fostering knowledge sharing and technical ownership. The team prioritizes proactive problem-solving to improve system performance and customer satisfaction. Focused on efficiency and long-term impact, the group ensures high-quality outcomes that support Walmart’s evolving technology platform and business objectives.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define high-level designs and translate requirements into technical solutions for small to medium projects.
- Develop, test, and maintain code ensuring compliance with quality, security, and scalability standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production and business issues through root cause analysis and coordinated action plans.
- Create and execute test cases, perform defect management, and conduct regression testing to ensure software reliability.
- Support continuous integration and delivery by automating routine tasks and monitoring application performance.
- Mentor and guide small engineering teams, providing technical direction and documentation.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery within Agile environments.
- Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming and coding standards using languages such as JavaScript, Python, or C#.
- Expertise in debugging, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Ability to develop and execute test cases, including automation and regression testing.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Skilled in API design, platform development, and component services with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
- Strong documentation and communication skills to support project management and stakeholder engagement.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
