What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Staff Risk Expert, you will serve as a senior manager, playing a critical role in the Global Tech Policy 2.0 initiative, you will challenge existing practices, constantly seeking opportunities to streamline and enhance our policy and controls management program. You will leverage AI and automation tools to drive efficiencies throughout the development, authoring, and revision of technology and information security policies. You will ensure our policies not only protect the company but also set new standards for effectiveness and agility in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Join Walmart’s Global Tech Policy & Security Advisors Team, focused on developing and implementing technology and information security policies for a leading global retailer. The team collaborates across functions to identify risks, strengthen governance, and enhance security measures. Members apply expertise in risk management, stakeholder engagement, and cyber security to protect operations and support innovation. Committed to continuous improvement, the team drives effective policy development and governance, ensuring agility and resilience in a dynamic technological environment while safeguarding business interests and maintaining high standards for security and compliance.
What you'll do:
- Lead policy governance activities, including identifying governance risks (including emerging technology and AI), maintaining the governance risk register, and ensuring appropriate escalation and mitigation across markets.
- Align policy governance with enterprise risk appetite, applying defined thresholds, monitoring exposure trends, and communicating relevant insights to leadership.
- Lead the development and refinement of AI, technology, and information security policies and standards.
- Perform challenge and quality‑control reviews of policy updates to ensure strong control integrity and consistent enterprise implementation.
- Oversee updates to technical standards and specifications, ensuring clarity, practicality, and alignment with evolving regulatory and business needs.
- Contribute to enhancements in policy governance processes, improving clarity, consistency, and efficiency.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Assurance, Law, or a related field).
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in risk management, policy development, or a related field.
- Robust understanding of technology compliance standards and emerging risks within technology and information security.
- Experience in leading business process improvement and implementation projects.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with and influence multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience with various technologies, including AI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and develop strategic mitigation strategies.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and agile way of working

Herndon, Virginia US-10710: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-09050: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
