Summary:
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing Walmart Data Ventures' technical and business data assets. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across the organization. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including Data Stewards, Analysts, Product Managers, Engineers, and Scientists, you will help design, implement, and maintain data solutions that meet business needs and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze product use cases, identify optimal data sources, and profile data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Partner with data modelers to design data structures, mappings, and transformations, ensuring alignment with business requirements and reconciling data post-implementation.
- Collaborate with Data Stewards and Security teams to enforce consistent data policies and standards organization-wide.
- Work with the data quality team to define and implement data quality rules.
- Develop automated, reusable frameworks and reports/dashboards using Python, SQL, and related tools for data analysis and reconciliation.
- Advise on data architecture, including column data types and scalable design.
- Validate and sign off on data assets post-implementation by Data Engineers.
- Interpret and document code (SQL, Scala, PySpark, Python, ETL) and data lineage at a high level.
- Create and validate data mappings, document data lineage, and maintain comprehensive metadata.
- Support business data stewards, analysts, and support teams in understanding data design and resolving data issues.
- Document all stewardship activities in enterprise data catalog and metadata management tools.
- Guide stakeholders and junior associates on data governance best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Promote organizational adoption of data management practices and educate teams on data accountability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science) with 6+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years in data management roles (Data Steward, Data Engineering, Data Analyst, Data Science, BI, ETL, etc.).
- 4+ years of advanced SQL experience, including stored procedures, nested queries, and advanced functions.
- 4+ years working with databases, data warehouses, or big data platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, Hive, Presto, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse, Snowflake).
- 4+ years with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- 2+ years with ETL/Cloud/Big Data tools (Informatica, SSIS, Spark, Hive, Airflow, etc.).
- 2+ years of experience in Python or similar object-oriented programming languages.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data management best practices, and tools (e.g., Collibra, data catalog, lineage, metadata management).
- Familiarity with software product lifecycles, data architecture, and agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of business domains such as Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing, including key KPIs.
- Experience with datasets like retail, POS, basket , consumer insights, or syndicated data providers is a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
