Position Summary...

Through coordination and strategic direction, the Senior Distinguished I Engineer role will enable control implementation, analysis of threat actors, emulation of threat actors in assessments, detection and monitoring of security events, and response to security incidents. Delivering these services ultimately enables resilient business operations, new market exploration, and technology adoption.

Walmart Information Security's Security Operations Center is the global provider of Computer Security Incident Response and Security Operations for one of the world's largest organizations. Our mission is to make Walmart the most trusted retailer.

What you’ll do:

• Guide the development of cyber risk assessment and management techniques
• Evaluate the effectiveness of current cyber risk assessment techniques and direct improvements or modifications in response to emerging security risks
• Analyze cybersecurity gaps and assess potential business risks from these gaps
• Decompose the product platform architecture into multiple components and modules, defining architectural specifications for each
• Evaluate system performance and scalability, providing tuning recommendations for both the underlying technology stack or any design changes
• Employ new methods or tools to analyze malicious software and attacks, redefining threat defense techniques as needed
• Develop strategy governance processes and measures for operational effectiveness, using various data sources to predict competitors' initiatives and drive contingency plans
• Establish incident management procedures for the detection, reporting, and handling of cyber incidents

• Partner with teams across Walmart's worldwide presence to enable detection and response capabilities

What you'll bring:
• Knowledge of cyber risk assessment and management techniques, security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, and possible treatments of these risks
• Understanding of architectural principles, systems and environment behavior, architectural styles, patterns, and plans
• Proficient knowledge of coding languages like SQL, Java, C, Python, and others, and knowledge of testing methods such as static, dynamic, software composition analysis, manual penetration testing, and others
• Knowledge of types of threats or malware, patterns of common malware characteristics, mechanism of malware, various file formats of malicious threat types, and programming languages used to create malware
• Understanding of infrastructure maintenance tools and methodologies, and infrastructure performance metrics
• Knowledge of strategy frameworks, key decisions and process approaches, strategy and financial planning processes
• Understanding of cyber incident detection and reporting protocols, types of cyber incidents, types of data breaches, and industry standards and best practices in incident management
• Experience in multiple complex business environments globally, and ability to synthesize complementary and competing factors in a complex environment to determine tradeoffs
• Ability to cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.

The annual salary range for this position is $160,000.00-$320,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
