What you'll do...
Join the litigation team and advise business and leadership about legal rights, obligations, and risks while assisting appellate and strategic litigation for the world’s largest retailer. The Lead Counsel – Appellate and Strategic Commercial Litigation role is critical for developing and driving a consistent strategy across the litigation portfolio, as well as strategizing potential affirmative litigation on behalf of the company. You will also collaborate with the commercial litigation team to develop strategy on complex issues. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate legal and business risk, providing legal advice and counsel. You will also retain, manage, and collaborate closely with outside counsel to drive case strategy, review and edit court submissions, and manage legal spend.
You’ll make an impact by:
Driving legal strategies for the company’s appellate and strategic litigation matters
Providing legal advice and counsel to internal stakeholders
Managing outside counsel and legal spend for appellate and strategic litigation matters
Reviewing legislative trends and significant legal decisions
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for strategic litigation
Working with internal and external counsel to develop consistent, high-quality written work product on behalf of the company
You’ll sweep us off our feet if:
You’re an appellate expert, with experience briefing and arguing appeals in state and federal courts
You’ve built amicus coalitions on behalf of clients’ litigation positions
You’re driven to execute and to act quickly
You’re process-minded and look for opportunities to streamline for improved efficiency and effectiveness
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
Law degree from an accredited law school and 7 years of legal experience
Appellate clerkship
At least four years of appellate practice experience post-clerkship
License to practice law in at least one U.S. state and in good standing

The annual salary range for this position is $160,000.00-$320,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
