Senior Director, International – Regeneration & ESG

Essential functions:

• Provides overall direction by:
  • analyzing business objectives and customer needs.

• Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by:
  • diagnosing capability gaps.
  • recruiting, selecting, and developing talent.
  • supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and
  • leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
• Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices and supporting the Open Door Policy.
• Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution and evaluation of business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
• In partnership and collaboration with Walmart’s global regeneration and ESG leaders, supports and drives the Walmart International regenerative strategy by:
  • Providing strategic direction and support for achieving Walmart’s regenerative goals, ensuring alignment between Corporate, International, and market level regenerative strategies, objectives, and performance measurements.
  • Developing business plans, strategic initiatives, and related key performance indicators (financial and non-financial) in partnership with key stakeholders at global, segment, and market level.
  • Communicating objectives and priorities to key stakeholders and ensuring the integration of strategic initiatives into cross-functional business plans, objectives, and overall business strategies.
  • Driving messaging and other tools that enhance associate, supplier and customer awareness and support of regenerative initiatives.
  • Facilitating engagement opportunities for associates, executives, and other business leaders.
  • Leading and facilitating best practices sharing opportunities for international markets.
  • Evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans and initiatives, ensuring transparent reporting to executive leadership on progress and identifying and helping to address barriers or obstacles that impact performance.
• In partnership and collaboration with Walmart’s global regeneration and ESG leaders and subject matter experts, oversees and leads strategic regenerative projects across Walmart International by:
  • identifying and evaluating, in partnership with global and market stakeholders, key regenerative opportunities and initiatives, including alignment between projects and overall International and market priorities.
  • analyzing and interpreting with cross-functional partners the cost effectiveness of projects and investment opportunities, ensuring coordination between groups, and relating metrics and performance goals (operational and financial).
  • engaging, advising, and influencing senior leadership to build support for strategic initiatives and desired outcomes, including preparing and presenting proposals to senior leadership; and
  • developing project plans and governance oversight to ensure successful delivery.
• Collaborates with Walmart’s global regeneration and ESG leadership and serves as an international spokesperson for regenerative efforts (including presenting at internal and external conferences and speaking events). Partners with global and market stakeholders to develop external stakeholder support for regenerative strategy by identifying and engaging suppliers, other business leaders, government and nongovernmental leaders; developing communication methods (for example, holding meetings, developing and overseeing distribution of promotional materials) for key messages; convening company and other business and government leaders for collaborative problem-solving; and securing support for critical sustainability initiatives.
• Works with global stakeholders to ensure the adherence by International and market stakeholders to the company’s ESG governance requirements, including supporting training and other required oversight for international markets.
• Facilities and coordinates alignment of activities and ways of working across International, including driving strong collaboration and ways of working with Walmart’s global regeneration and ESG leaders and subject matter experts, and building strong connectivity across the Walmart International business and retail markets. Key partners will include global subject matter experts, corporate affairs and communications teams, and stakeholders from all areas of the business (Merchandising, Operations, Real Estate, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, HR, Compliance, etc.). Partners closely with Walmart Sourcing on key regenerative activities, identifying points of leverage and facilitating best practice sharing across the international business.

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field and 7 years’ experience project management, sustainability, or related field OR 10 years’ experience project management, sustainability, or related field.

6 years' supervisory experience.
