Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Are you ready to lead and drive innovation for a large team and oversee emergency response and crisis management for the world’s largest retailer? The Senior Director of Emergency Management is responsible for the full spectrum of the emergency management life-cycle within the Walmart, Inc. enterprise as it pertains to natural disasters, man-made disasters, security related events and public health threats. This includes enterprise business continuity/crisis planning, preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. The Senior Director works with leadership internally and externally (i.e., government agencies, nonprofits, private companies, and organizations) to maintain a crisis structure that efficiently and effectively brings out the best possible outcomes during disaster situations. The Senior Director must develop innovative ways to identify great efficiencies to ensure that plans, preparations, and responses meet local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines. The Senior Director works closely with executive leadership across Global Security and Global Governance, Risk and Compliance to ensure alignment between Business Continuity Plans and IT Disaster Recovery plans.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Leading and driving the vision for the Emergency Operations Center.

  • Innovating and creating disaster mitigation and recovery operations that provide subject matter expertise and leadership in recovering the company’s assets and driving efficiencies.

  • Analyzing the dynamic internal and external environments to ensure that the business resources are leveraged the most efficiently.

  • Building business cases for investment in additional resources or modifications to resources.

  • Overseeing and evolving the global enterprise business continuity planning framework, crisis planning & preparedness to ensure holistic approach on how the company responds to crisis situations.

  • Leading the company’s training, education and awareness programs for crisis and emergency preparedness and readiness.

  • You have a proven track record leading a large team and developing a high-performance culture

  • You are comfortable building relationships, leveraging internal partnerships with key stakeholders and working collaboratively on a cross-functional team

  • You are process-minded and actively seek out opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness

  • You are a subject matter expert on crisis, disaster, emergency topics and to inform executive leadership and provide appropriate counsel

  • You have a proven track record representing the company on emergency and disaster-related topics to external stakeholders including governmental officials.

  • You have successfully navigated and resolved a large-scale emergency and/or crisis situations, leading a large team.

  • You have developed mitigation strategies for threat management

  • You have a proven track record partnering with local, state and federal entities and organizations to build information sharing networks and relationships.

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and can confidently interact with senior leadership and stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Emergency Management, Risk Management, Security, or related field and 7 years’ experience in security, emergency management, risk management, law enforcement, fire service, or related area OR 9 years’ experience in security, emergency management, risk management, law enforcement, fire service, or related area. 3 years’ supervisory experience.
