Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As a part of Walmart Global Tech, you’ll design digital products that deliver exceptional experiences for Walmart associates. The tools that we build digitally enable users, improve efficiency, and help our fellow associates make more data-informed decisions for their teams and the business. If you are the type of person who enjoys solving complex problems, operates with intention, delivers for the user, knows how to build trust and strong relationships, and advocates for the success of the entire team - then our Lead Designer position could be for you. The ideal candidate will be an experienced UX/UI Design leader, who can communicate design recommendations, execute design ideas, lead discussions, and manage stakeholder relationships.

As a Lead Designer, you’ll set the vision for the best customer experience and create a space for cross-functional colleagues to collaborate. You will use your knowledge of the Design Thinking process to collaborate with partner teams, facilitate conversations, create concepts, run design sprints, and build rapid prototypes to leverage the collective creativity. You’ll employ your great strengths in storytelling to present your vision and product design rationale in a compelling, convincing manner to cross-functional partners and the leadership team. While working with partners to determine a shared plan forward that balances business and technology considerations, you will create and champion an experience that is highly usable before delivering pixel-perfect designs.

What you'll do:

  • Bring curiosity and dedication to solving problems and delivering value for our users
  • Leverage design best practices when creating user flows, mockups, prototypes, workshop documents, and hand-off files
  • Use various communication methods to convey data-driven design decisions, document design engagements, share information, and work towards alignment and mutual understanding
  • Define vision and strategies for each project through domain expertise, internal and external best practices, and by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Build collaborative relationships with key partners by driving priorities aligned to business goals, communicating and prioritizing design efforts, and gaining buy-in from executive leadership
  • Providing overall design direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs
  • Build a team environment by collaborating closely within our team and cross-functionally with our partners across the business
  • Mentor Senior Designers, Associate Designers, Designers and Apprentice Designers in UX/UI design methodology and principles as well as providing guidance on project-based design tasks
  • Work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing quality and knowing how to adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the Omnichannel business. Capable of working on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that quality deliverables are achieved on time.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry news and developments.
  • Contribute to team processes and standards to help establish best practices for design & research.
  • Bring exceptional communication & presentation skills, both written and verbal.
